Here is the position again:

  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
A - - - - X - - - -
B - - - O X - O O -
C - - - O X - O X O
D - X - O X X O X -
E - O X O X O X - X
F - - O - X O X X X
G - - - - X O O O O
H - - - X X X O - -
J - - - - - O O - -
X to play

It turns out that the right-hand side is a tough problem for O
after X's toughest attack, which I think is C2!

I have a best-play sequence:

X C2
O B2
X F2
O D3
X E1
O G2
X E3
O H3
X E2
O F4
X B3
O A3
X C3
O A4
X J2
O C1
X G1
O H1
X A2
O A1
X J3
O G4
X H2
O F1 atari

  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
A O - O O X - - - -
B - O X O X - O O -
C O X X O X - O X O
D - X O O X X O X -
E X X X O X O X - X
F O X O O X O X X X
G - O - O X O O O O
H O X O X X X O - -
J - X X - - O O - -

But note an interesting thing here: O is winning on the left by just
one tempo, and there is a Ko. Since O is also winning on the right
by just one tempo, if he needs a ko to win the left, then he will
lose the game.

Is it possible that X wins here?
