Hi Michael,
Do you have a reference for that?
In Japanese 9x9 pro games (e.g. the minigo series, also NHK sometimes
have a 9x9 special) they used to play at 5.5pt komi but moved to 6.5pt
komi maybe about 10 years ago. I've not heard any suggestion of ever
moving to 7.5pt komi.
9.5pt komi is unreasonable. I agree with Don that perfect game value
will probably turn out to be 7pts, though I'm keeping an open mind that
it may be 6pts. I'd be surprised if it was 8pts, though that could just
mean I've been analyzing the wrong openings :-).
