Depends on the program. Programs based on MC, UCT, or other such things
can use as much or little time as they please. Programs like Gnu Go can
only adjust some overall parameters, and then it does its thinking. The
best it can do, is to adjust those again for the next move, if this one
turned out to take more or less time.
