In my experience, a Yahoo forum is just like this except that Yahoo 
appends a load of drivel to the foot of each posting (I have copied a 
sample below), and does something to the headers to mess up the 
threading in my mail client.

The friendliness, of course, depends on the participants, not on the 
software.
