Of course this adjustment only works in the approximate ELO range
of currently active players. Presumably, if all players were several
hundred ELO stronger, white would be winning MOST of the games and
the adjustment would be different. Or if komi was 6.5 then black
would be winning most of the games.
So at least from a theorectical point of view, this type of ELO
adjustment makes no sense (but then neither does the ELO system
when players are so strong that most games are a forgone conclusion.)
