Shodan players are far, far, from perfect play. Shodan players have a good
understanding of most basic concepts, and can solve simple tactical problems
during a game, but that's about it. I'm 3 Dan, and almost every move I make
is a mistake of some kind. The gap in skill between a shodan and a
professional player is huge.

And the gap between the 9-Dan Pro players and God is even larger. At least
in chess one thought that the play of the world-champion is almost optimal.
Sometimes a weak move or even a blunder, but otherwise optimal.
Nowadays one knows that they make even in relative simple endgames like
queen against rook serious errors. Hydra is very far away from God, but no
human can play in complicated positions 10 moves in a row without making an
error which is punished by Hydra. God would announce after every 2nd move:
Sorry, second best move, you are mated in 89.
I think the top humans would not win a knight-handicap match against God. I
assume in Go the difference is also a very large handicap.
