Its author Yizao Wang attributed this to a bug in MoGo, that in its playouts it never considered playing inside a two-point eye, as it would eventually have to do to capture the black group. I do not altogether understand this: if it couldn't see how to kill the group, why was it doing so so effectively with move 1 to 9?

I think you misunderstood the talk between me and zapp during the game. The two-point eye is another story. Here the blunder of move 11 is due to another pattern bug.
