[computer-go] Top 10 CGOS programs

I'm not planning on any other board sizes because I made CGOS
specifically for 9x9.
However, the server code itself works on any board size. Other sizes
could be set up as separate instances of the server.
There have been discussions about different levels too. The server is
currently configured to play 10 minutes per side but this is
configurable too. However I don't have provisions for multiple
simultaneous levels.
My fear is that things get more complicated and we lose the nice
simplicity of CGOS. If I allowed other board sizes, there would be
fewer interesting matches at any given board size and I would have to
set up ratings separately and things get more complicated. The same
would be true of levels, I would have to provide mechanisms for
choosing levels and this might cause less variety.
When I finish the new code, I'm willing to let someone run it on their
own server - or perhaps Dave Dyer will let other instances of CGOS
run on his server.
But again, there seems to be a lot of interest in 9x9 for computers and
why I chose to focus on it.
If at some point in the future CGOS were to get so popular that 50 or
more players are on all the time, I would consider a serious upgrade to
support more levels and boardsizes simultaneously.
