you are right, there might be a problem, if you want to distribute a 
collection of GPL and non-GPL works in the same distribution, even if they 
are independent and not derivatives of each other.

In my opinion, this applies only if your proprietary program requires the GPL 
program to function. This is not the case for a GTP engine, even if only few 
people would type in GTP commands manually to play a game of Go.

But I see your point. Maybe I will change the license of GoGui to LGPL. Until 
then, I am perfectly fine with you using GoGui only for bootstrapping and not 
contributing anything.
